“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Winston Churchill.
I’m a Baby Boomer. When I was in school, the teaching of certain subjects was required. English, History, Math, to name a few. They weren’t simply classes you could take to earn extra credits. Failing any or all of these classes resulted in failing a grade.
We are living in a time where efforts to erase important history are occurring. Teaching of certain subjects has been banned in schools, along with a multitude of books. Books, I might add, that were required reading in my Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Years.
While I understand that times change with new generations, history cannot be erased simply because teaching it has been forbidden.
These days, I often find myself asking whether others were required to take the same classes that I did, if they were habitual class skippers, didn’t pay attention, forgot what they learned, or simply don’t care.
I always loved learning about history. I still enjoy learning. Knowledge is power, and an excellent debate defense. I know, I know, there are some out there who could have the truth pounded into their heads and they still wouldn’t believe it. But just because they reject the truth doesn’t change it.
I think a few history lessons/reminders might prove beneficial to many since they seem to have forgotten so much.
I’ve put together a series of historical blogs based on…TA-DA…actual historical facts. In other words, I read, researched, and wrote the blogs in short, simple to understand, prose. Not as a way to be condescending, but as a way to (hopefully) capture the attentions of many who absolutely refuse to see or admit what is happening right before their very eyes right now!
Hope you enjoy the articles.
